Program Summary

Learn to Row Graduates 2005The Cambridge Rowing Club offers services to rowers of all levels, and those wishing to row competitively or recreationally.

Learn to Row
    The Learn to Row program is meant for those new to the sport of rowing, and provides a supervised introduction to the fundamentals of the rowing stroke, basic boat handling skills, along with instruction on the essentials of water safety.  This program consists of a total of 8 sessions, made up of two sessions per week, for 4 consecutive weeks.  Each group is composed of 8 rowers.  Any sessions missed due to bad weather are rescheduled and made up at the end of the course.

Highschool
    For the 2009 season, the CRC will be working hard to develop its growing Highschool programs.  Dates and details below.

Summer Sport Camp
Check out our "gROWing up on the Grand" Sport Camp, a one-week camp specially aimed at youth ages 11 to 15!

Recreational
    The Recreational program is meant for recent Learn to Row graduates or those with competant core boat skills who wish to remain in a recreational program.

Competitive
    The Competitive program at the CRC is for self-motivated and race-driven rowers.  This program requires year-round training, and focuses on all the tools required to race and win.

Coaching Schedule
     The coaching schedule will be posted at the boathouse.

Learn To Row

The Open House and LTR registration date for 2009 is Saturday April 18, 10am to noon

Each group holds a maximum of 8 rowers and the program is composed of 2 lessons per week for 4 consecutive weeks. Lessons are scheduled for Holidays. Any classes cancelled due to bad weather will be rescheduled for the week after the class ends.

All Learn to Row sessions run from 5:45-7:15am or pm.  Your group will only ever be in the mornings or evenings - it will not rotate. Please arrive to the boathouse 15 minutes before the beginning of a class.
* A regular class is offered on the holiday.
**There will be an extra week tacked onto each program to allow for lessons cancelled due to the weather.

Highschool Programs

2009 Highschool Gym Classes


If you are a high school student and are interested in learning to row, ask your school Athletics Director to contact our Head Coach and ask about the off-site gym classes.

2009 Highschool Competitive Program


This is a program that takes place outside of school hours and is open to new and experienced rowers. Please ask your school Athletics Director to contact our Head Coach to arrange an informational seminar at your school.

Indoor training will start in late March and on water training starts in late April.

Summer Sport Camp



"gROWing up on the Grand"


There is a special opportunity to get a taste of rowing in a one-week sport camp at the CRC.  These FULL DAY sessions are for youth aged 11 to 15. 

Camp activities will include:
 
- on and off water rowing time
- fitness activities
- team building activities
- a rowing camp t-shirt
- membership to RowOntario and Rowing Canada

A swim test is required, see registration form for details.

Week 1
July 13 - 17, 2009

Week 2
August 10 - 14, 2009

The sessions run from 8:30am - 4:30pm.

The cost is $200.00 per participant. Please email the CRC Registrar for the registration form.

Our Recreational rowers usually meet during specific times, where a coach is available to provide information and assistance.  Please check the posted schedule at the boathouse.

The Competitive rowers usually meet during specific times, where a coach is available to provide information and assistance.  Please check the posted schedule at the boathouse.

When and Where Will We Race?

Competitors should plan to attend a meeting TBA for an overview of regattas as well as associated fees not covered by the membership fee.

Training Program and Tracking

A Mileage Log will be posted at the club boathouse.  If you wish, keep an accurate account of your distances rowed!
